See what our newest residents are saying about Willow Creek!

Jim and Carole Brown
moved in November 2009

Jim and Carole Brown moved to Willow Creek from a beach house in Newport NC, overlooking the ICW and Bogue Sound.  As difficult as it was to leave that beautiful place, they are thoroughly enjoying Tennesee, Sweetwater and Willow Creek.

“We have already met so many wonderful people, and our new home in Willow Creek is a joy, and has exceeded all our expectations.  We couldn’t be more pleased with the entire process of building the house, which was done at a distance, but the team kept us up with progress with weekly pictures to show us exactly what was happening.  We heartily recommend Willow Creek to anyone who may be considering a move.”, they said.

Jim and Carole attend the Tuesday evening Bible Study conducted by Pastor Joe Brown, and are attending The Church of Life, pastored by Joe and Betty Brown who are also Willow Creek residents.

Jim is retired from DuPont, and since retirement has been a Hospital Administrator, Real Estate Broker, and a General Contractor.  His hobby is wood working, and both Jim and Carole enjoy kayaking and sailing.  Carole is very creative, and enjoys sewing and decorating the new home.  Both are looking forward to Thanksgiving, when four of their five children, and five of their eight grandchildren will be here.  A daughter, Julie Childers lives in Farragut, with her husband Alan, and two children."

"I had been coming to Tennessee, and the Great Smoky Mountains since the 60’s, and felt a “connection” with the people and beauty of East Tennessee, especially the Great Smoky Mountains. I decided early on that some day I would like to live there, but didn’t know when or how I would accomplish that. I was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and lived in that area most of my life.

In 2007, my friends were visiting Sweetwater, TN – and saw a new development called Willow Creek that was begun in 2004. They suggested I take a look at it, since they knew I was getting close to retirement age, and wanted to retire near the Smoky Mountains. I didn’t even know where Sweetwater TN was !

I found Willow Creek (in Sweetwater TN), and just felt a special sense of belonging from the very beginning – it was as though I was supposed to be there.

I looked at some houses and town homes in Willow Creek in May, 2007, found a couple of houses I wanted to re-visit, and returned the next day. It seemed too good to be true, so I came back to Willow Creek in August, 2007, and purchased a house. I moved in the following year, and haven’t looked back since !

I am still working—haven’t retired just yet, and was able to transfer within the company, to Knoxville where a new office had opened just one month prior to my moving here. I am now working from home.

Willow Creek does have that intimate, traditional neighborhood that you would find in so many small towns. It reminds me of where I grew up, when everyone knew all their neighbors, and when you walked down the street, everyone spoke and knew your name. I love the front porches! In fact, that’s where I have met many of my neighbors, just by sitting in my rocking chair, on the front porch.

It’s an incredibly sweet place to live – whether you’re retirement age, or whether you’re just starting out on your life adventure – you will find Willow Creek to be everything you’re looking for in a planned community."
